I have recently returned from the Caribbean, having sailed there from Gran Canaria on a sailing yacht, partaking in the The ARC 2017 (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers). The highlight of our 3 week Atlantic crossing was rescuing a Loggerhead turtle from a plastic fishing net which was floating on the surface. As we approached the turtle we could see it was desperately trying to swim away but couldn’t because of the weight of the net it was trapped in. We caught the net and hauled the turtle onto the deck of our boat and cut the net away from it before returning the turtle back to the ocean, seemingly none the worse for its ordeal.

Happy New Year to you all. Before we commence our 2018 sailing program, I thought we would share this little video of our 2017 Transatlantic Turtle Rescue with you.
